So 2019 was the year I turned 30 and believe it or not it was the year I finally felt like an adult. Truth is age does not make you an adult. In all truth it is a mature mindset that really allows you to successfully step into adulthood.
I learnt it was time to own my decisions and desires. To lean in to my longings, to be unapologetic about my opinions and views, to be open, transparent and at times vulnerable to being judged.
Becoming an adult meant speaking up, not shrinking and dealing with childhood issues. One of my fave books called Changes that heal said , negative experiences that we have can often times get stored up in our hearts and mind and they stay the same age. Until we accept that it’s our responsibility to face these internal battles we in a sense stay the same age as the negative experience. We must grow out of these bad habits by becoming self aware and dealing with these issues.
I have come to realise that the grace of God gives me the tender love and patience needed to beautifully transition out of negative cycles and deep seated emotional problems. I believe as we begin to these things we become healthy, mature adults. Taking ownership of our lives and purpose and being an incredible source of life to the world.
So ask yourself these 4 questions:
- Am I actually an adult?
- Have I taken ownership of my life’s decisions?
- Am I self aware and dealing with my issues?
- Do I seek approval before making my own choices?
As you begin to dwell on these questions I believe the Holy Spirit will reveal hidden truths so you can take off the heavy burdens and step into adulthood.
Key Scriptures to Study Further.
“As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.”
Hebrews 12:1 TPT
“God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.”
Psalms 139:23 TPT
